I know the TRG's 42's are metric and there's a few great suppressors out there for them.

My question is with thoughts to having more than .30 cal rifle I may want to use it on, trying to avoid buying multiple $1000+ units, and the fact that the sako is probably the only metric threaded one I'd end up with is there a "better" option to buying a metric threaded suppressor, such as having an adapter made or bought to a more common (in the states) thread size? Or perhaps a quick release attachment where different adapters could be bought for various threads ala surefire?

I suppose I could have future builds done with metric threads as well, or have the sako threaded to a more common us size, but I'd like to avoid the later.

Tried the search but didn't find much specific to sako/metric threads aside threads on what the actual metric size was and who offered metric suppressors.

Thanks

Re: Supressor and sako TRG threads?

My T3 tac in 223 has same threads as TRG. I bought a thread adaptor to get to 1/2x28.
I think I saw where someone here had the metric threads recut to 5/8x24 for standard suppressor.
Also, if you wish to go the QD route, I believe Yankee Hill has a metric adaptor for the TRG and the 762 Phantom.
If not mistaken, the threads are 18x1 on Sako.

Re: Supressor and sako TRG threads?

The yankee hill looked promising but I think the threads on all the TRG 42's are 18x1 and from what I'm seeing they don't make an adapter for their 30 cal suppressor with 18x1 threads, only their .338

The adapter to 1/2x28 sounds like a good plan, I see SAS makes quite a few various mount options/adapters as well.

Re: Supressor and sako TRG threads?

AFAIK, all the TRG's are 18x1 thread.

I have a RGP titanium, with an adaptor to go between 5/8 and 18x1. RGP makes these adaptors for you to fit whatever threads your rifles have.

Also, they were very easy to work with and Chuck made the paperwork very easy. Both us being in Texas didn't hurt either...

Re: Supressor and sako TRG threads?

Could always get the 'modular' TigerShark (for 30) or Jaws (338) from JDW/Shark Suppressors. One can, and many thread adapters built specifically for his products.

Re: Supressor and sako TRG threads?

TBAC sells their 30P-1 in 18X1!! I just bought one for my TRG-22 and am waiting on my stamp.
While I am waiting I had my Remington 700 Sendero .300WM threaded in 18X1 so that I can swap the muzzle break and suppressor around depending on the flavor of the day.

Re: Supressor and sako TRG threads?

If I get a suppressor for my TRG22 I'll probably go with a Gemtech HVT-QD. Using that I'll be able to have their 18x1 mount on the Sako and a 1/2x28 mount on the AR to switch the can between either rifle easily.
