Gunsmithing Surefire Break on 308 Bolt Gun

I am interested in cutting my barrel to 18.5" & putting a surefire muzzle break on my Remington 700 in 308WIN (A poor man's Gladius). I have tried to talk to Surefire, but I don't have all day to be placed on hold.

My question:

Is there a maximum barrel contour for the muzzle break?

Just finished this one for a friend its a 18"plus break. If you have a remington varmint taper (pss or sps or varmint) you'll be fine.Hope this helps.

You also have the option of going with a 762K muzzle brake if you don't want to turn the barrel down a lot. Here is a pic of my 762K on my barrel. My barrel is 24inches finished at 1 inch at the muzzle.

I am thinking about a M24/M40 contour. Is the 762K my best option? Is it compatible with your suppressors if I travel down that road?

No it is not the brake you posted a link of. The brake I am running is the MB762-211C. This muzzle brake can be used with one of our FA762K suppressors. The reason I went with this brake over the MB762SSAL/RE is because I am running a huge barrel contour and it is fluted. I didn't want to have to turn back 2 3/4 inches of my barrel. With this brake I just had my barrel threaded 5/8 X 24 and then it had to be turned down only like a 1/4 inch behind the adaptor so the suppressor could fit on.

SureFire has them in stock. If you call the 1-800 number they can take your order if brownells doesn't have them in stock.

Barrel can be pretty much any taper because if it is greater then .775; it could be turned down. Not a big deal considering you're goona thread it anyway!

Here is an MB762SSAL/RE Muzzle Brake/Adapter on an 18" AR-10 heavy barrel.

Works great.

I use a Remington 700 20" at work and recently had the barrel threaded to 5/8 X 24 and currently using the YHM can. Do you know if I can take off that YHM and install the Surefire Brake
MB762-211C would work without have the barrel cut back more?
