Having a GAP built and I have a couple questions regarding the Surefire brakes/suppressor adapter. I was looking at the new SOCOM Series.

How much length does it add to the barrel?

Does it index somehow with the threads, or do the threads need to be specifically cut for it? So if I just have my barrel threaded 5/8-24 for now, can I just screw one on later without it being cockeyed?

Would I want to just get the 7.62 for a 6.5x47 and 6.5 Grendel so I could use it on a .30 cal later if I want?

Re: Surefire Questions

Which supressor the socom mini or the socom RC?

As for the threads SF makes a muzzle brake that screws onto your existing threads and has a fast attatch method for the can

The mini will had about 5" to your rifle while the RC will add about 7 inches.

The difference in length will effect suppression ability.

I'm not sure what you mean by your caliber reciporicipty question, can you be more clear?

Re: Surefire Questions

Was wondering about the length of the brake itself and what it ads to the barrel length. Also if the threads have to be cut specifically for it so it indexes properly, or once it's screwed on tight is there a method to index the ports correctly? So as long as the threads are 5/8-24 I'm good regardless of the length? Maybe I'm not asking/understanding correctly?

For the caliber reciprocity question: Just making sure it's not a bad idea to get a 7.62 can even though I'm only shooting 6.5's right now. That way I have the option of putting it on a 30 cal later if I want.

Re: Surefire Questions

That is correct. They issue shims so you can index it correctly with the ports, and the threads do not have to be cut in any particular way, just as long as they are concentric with the bore.

As for the lengths those were lengths including the Brake. So add those lengths to whatever barrel length you have and you'll have OAL.

As for caliber choice it makes no difference that the can is slightly over sized. You won't see any perceivable difference.
