Range Report Surgeon .308 with S&B 5-25 range report

So I started the day off breaking the barrel in a little, and a fair amount of cleaning. My first group out of the rifle looked like this.

Not terribly good, but if you consider that the first shot was over 2 and a half mils high (not even on the paper, lol), and then the second shot is the one in the bulls eye, I thought it wasn't bad. Still needs breaking in I'm thinking.

So after a couple groups I ask the range officer if I could try and qualify for the 1000yd range. Basically you have to shoot a group under 1moa.

So then I post this sucker:

It says 0.194moa and the average is 0.062 moa. I pretty much had the whole line drooling over that for the rest of the day, lol.

EDIT: Measured again and it said 0.167 moa.

Here's the gun.

Nice stick, and that's excellent shooting.

When I first read your line about qualfiying for the 1000 yard range, I looked at the picture thinking you were shooting @ 1000 yards. lol I was about to throw the BS flag!! NICE shooting and beautiful rifle.

It seems like I remember writing up the build sheet for that rifle. I'm glad I put that magic dust in it before it left the shop! Looks like it worked.

Let's keep that magic dust on the down low.

Great shooting & also a great looking rifle, I just bought the S&B 3-20. Was using nightforce 5.5-20, can't believe the difference (quality or price)

Yea, it's crazy how much better I can see the holes with the 5-25 S&B then I can with my 60X Bushnell spotting scope, lol. That thing is trash in comparison.

it doesn't get much better than this, this rifle would give the BR guys some cold sweat.
congrats.

1000yd group. Not even sure if this is good or not. Only my second time shooting at 1000, and it was fairly windy. Swirling winds no less. So the wind was blowing one way where I was, and multiple other ways before it made it to the target.

Nice setup looks similar to mine, except I went with a USO SN3 instead. The glass quality on the SB is awesome though, and I would expect nothing less from a Surgeon Rifle. They are amazing rifles.

I roughly counted 44 rounds fired at the 1,000yard target (guessing standard 1,000 yard comp size) I understand some wind was an issue but id work on those wind reading skills. 2 (10's) and zero (X's) leave room for improvement but rifle appears to be shooting well. Enjoy it!

I shot 49 shots, and 2 didn't register (I highly doubt that I missed entirely), so that makes 47 total hits. There weren't any in that blur to the left that I recall, so there must have been some that overlapped.

Also, like I said, the wind was insane. It was only like 5-15mph, but it was going in about 3 different directions. There's a flag on each target for wind calls, and lets say it would say the wind was coming from the right, the bullet would actually travel INTO the wind half the time and end up to the right of the target. The RSO was helping me with the wind calls, but even he was saying it was crazy. I understand you're supposed to be able to read the different winds, but that shits like trying putt on a green that's floating out in the middle of the ocean. The wind could be breaking 5mph from the right at the target and 7mph from the left at the muzzle when I read it, but 5 seconds later when I shoot it could be 8mph from the left at the target and 3mph from the right at the muzzle.

That's not easy for someone who's only ever shot to 1000 once before.
