Hi, I have a question that I would guess the answer to is no. Could the bolt out of my Hospitaller in my sig, be fitted into the Rem 5R also in my sig. I am going to have GAP re-barrel the Hospitaller to 7mmRSAUM, and I just found out that the barrel can be used on the 5R, so it just made me wonder if the 591 is a close enough 700clone for the possibility. I would be having the 5R built to a degree as well, such as re-barrel,true action, PTG bolt, etc.
Thanks for your time in reading this.

Re: Surgeon 591 bolt

Depending on what surgeon you have I know the antibind rails are different so the cut out on the bolt will be different to match. If you desperate for an answer pull one and try it in the other but I think the outlook is grim.

Thanks, I expect it to be grim as well. Just a dumb thought that maybe it could be fitted by a smith to be an upgrade. I'm sure that going to a PTG bolt is the correct answer.

Re: Surgeon 591 bolt

Besides the anti-bind rail and depending on what Surgeon you have the bolt actually decreases in tolerance (clearance) when going into battery. If you look close at your bolt you can see the where it's thicker. A gunsmith might have to bore your Rem 5R receiver to a certain size to make it work with that bolt.

there is a difference between tolerance and clearance
