Surgeon Remedy with the AICS 2.0, new CIP mag

For everyone wanting an AICS stock for the Surgeon XL, the dream is now a reality. Here are some pics from my trip to Prague this week.

They have a few 338 Remedy rifles with the new AICS stocks ready to ship.

To work in the new stock, cuts are made on sides of the bottom of the action to interface with the stock. Also the mag well is opened up to accommodate the new mags.

Here is the new CIP mag.

You can send in your XL for modification. Check with Matt or Steve to see when they are planning to set up the machines for the mods. Can't wait to get my action back.

As always, it was great seeing Preston and Matt. They are some good people.

According to Matt, the original mag has a max OAL of about 3.650. The new CIP mag has a max OAL of approx 3.725.

You don't at this time. The .338 CIP magazines are not released for sale, only to a couple of OEM manufactures at this time. Further developments will be announced as time permits on these.

Will there be new AICS stocks to fit the CIP mags?
or will our existing AICS need to be modified?

Yet to be released, but looking to have more information ready and available at/after Shot Show. On the existing AICS's, no sir, there will be no modification available, offered or recommended for several reasons. The AICS magazine aperture not only changed in length for the CIP magazine but also has been slightly relocated due to the action changes/requirements.

The AICS XL for Surgeon with the CIP has been delivered, and they are only available directly from Surgeon on these models. The CIP .338 AICS is looking like a 2nd to 3rd QTR availability, the distributors will be updated with this information very soon to start ordering within the next 2 weeks.

I can only speculate on International sales since that is not in our realm here in the US. I would fully expect you would be able to place your order with Sporting Service later this year.

Would there ever be a benefit or reason to weld the action to the "chasis" of the AI stock? Is it even possible, just thinking out loud....

I am no welder but I am almost positive that you cant weld aluminum to steel, you could epoxy it like an AIAW

I know I am reviving an old thread but has anyone heard anything on the new CIP .338 AICS, also if possible pricing and availability

EDIT:also I forgot to ask if I got this AICS for a remington 700 action how hard would it be to later on have a surgeon action placed in it
