They build a fine rifle, I have owned a Surgeon as well as many GAP rifles, they don't dissapoint.
I gotta ask, how impatient are are we talking here? A custom rifle built to your specs takes time, most build times are dictated by lead times on built to order stocks and barrels, something many don't consider.

Re: surgeon rifles- opinions please

i didnt mean to imply GAP is doing anything wrong or is not meeting expectations. i just have a brand spanking new USO in the safe i am dying to take on a p dog hunt next month. like i said just a hair up my ass. it appears that surgeon may have a few rifles ready to ship so i was thinking of trying one out.

Re: surgeon rifles- opinions please

Buy another rifle...you won't be disappointed there either

Re: surgeon rifles- opinions please

I have one of each, Gap and Surgeon. The 223 surgeon is almost identical to one they have listed for sale right now. I am very please with it. A decision either way would not be a bad one. I am a little partial to Gap though. Why not just get one of each?

Re: surgeon rifles- opinions please

what twist is the Surgeon your looking at? I have a GAP 223 and it loves the heavy bullets(1/8) but hates the light bullets
which your probably going to use on your pd hunt. YMMV

Re: surgeon rifles- opinions please

I am having my first rifle built with surgeon action and bottom metal. They look like they build some nice parts and complete guns. It will be around march before i will be able to shoot it due to lead time on parts.

Re: surgeon rifles- opinions please

I am also currently in a build process with a surgeon action. Even my 'smith uses their actions for his personal rigs. Also, I know a fella shooting a remedy that he swears by sooooo, like everyone said, you won't be disappointed. Post up some pics when it arrives!

I've got one of the first rifles to come out of their shop. It's one rifle I'll never part with.

Looks like the prairie dogs are going to be in dire straits! What are you putting on it for a scope?

I see that you are from Montana, I shot dogs up there one time at a cattle ranch near Billings. I have never seen so many in my life! Farking melted barrels!

Wow!!!!!!!!!!! I initially wanted a Surgeon but since they weren't taking on any new custom builds I opted for GAP to build my rifle using Surgeon's action. I still want a Surgeon though. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy her.
