Does anyone have experience loading either of these powders for 50 BMG?
I was wondering if it does a good job. It is significantly less expensive than all the other powders I have seen available.
I will only be loading 650 grain Ball, API, and APIT.

I use H50BMG for my 750 A-Max match loads also, and VV 20n29 for my 808 grain solids match ammo. I'm more looking for a good performing inexpensive plinking powder for use out of my barrett semi auto. Its a 2 MOA gun at best so It doesn't have to be super match ammo like I would shoot out of my McMillan. A ball powder would be nice since it meters so well...

Any suggestions?

I use the 867 for my "plinking" or non match ammo. I bought 5 jugs of it and mixed it all together to get some uniformity. It has actually done pretty well, especially considering the cost. Sure it is not quite as good as the H50bmg, but it does well enough with API and pulled fmj.

I am using 218 grains for the fmj projectiles and 225 for the API. Keep in mind there can be a lot of variability with different lots. Both loads could use more development, but I have just not had the time (or range) to really get out and mess with it. Both are around 1 moa at 100 yards quite consistently. Might do a bit better as I get more used to the rifle. Again, I just don't shoot it as much as I would like. Aside from that, last targets I shot with the fmj load was just about 530 yards or so. Pretty easy to hit split logs (maybe 1ft tall 7inch wide) with it, so consistency was good enough for that.

I will say that the AMAX gets the good powder though lol.

If you are looking to load on the cheap, give it a try. It would probably work well enough for ya. I have not tried the 872... havent had a reason to really. I think it is supposed to be a good bit slower than the 867.

**be sure to strain it or at least watch it carefully. I have had some bits and pieces show up that I wouldnt want in my ammo**

Good info! Thanks for the reply! I have used 860 with fairly decent results. I was hoping the 867 or 872 would perform the same for $30 less per 8 pound jug.
