Suspicious Items Found on 3 Planes

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/10/29/security.concern/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1

(CNN) -- Authorities were responding to reports of suspicious items on cargo flights that landed Friday in Newark, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Planes "were moved to a remote location ... out of an abundance of caution," the Transportation Security Administration said.

In Philadelphia, the fire department's hazardous material units were responding to an incident involving two aircraft -- a UPS plane and a 757 jet with no one aboard, officials said.

Three people aboard one of the planes were scanned with negative results, the Philadelphia Fire Department said.

The type of material that may be involved is not known, officials said.

It was just reported that one of the items was an ink toner cartridge that was converted to a bomb. It will be interesting to see what real info flows out of this.

Apparently the Threat Level needs to be upgraded to "Put On A F*ckin' Helmet." I'll also be interested to see if there are any updates of substance with this story.

Re: Suspicious Items Found on 3 Planes

It's about time for another threat, the carry on situation is so bad, usually the last 5 to 10 people on the plane are getting their bags checked because the plane is out of room. Flight crew is getting real tired of chasing down people with too many bags, or ones that don't fit overhead.

Flying back to CT last week, some guy had 4 different bags with him at the gate.

So, they'll pull something to reduce that number.

CNN has a live feed for video if anyone's absolutely bored enough to watch it.

I believe they're all cargo jets.

Re: Suspicious Items Found on 3 Planes

[Update 11:38 a.m.] A bomb squad in New York City is responding to a report of a suspected explosive device inside a package aboard a UPS truck in Queens, the deputy police commissioner said Friday. Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne declined to say whether the discovery is connected to the incidents at the Newark and Philadelphia airports.

Not the brown trucks, too!

Interesting the timing of the incident, isn't it.

So the announcement today that unemployment is down for the first time may be a mistake also?
