I dunno...issues with keeping the optic reliably zeroed on between hosts, things like that.
I'll be the first to admit this is probably a stupid question...but I ask because I haven't done anything like this before.
I'm thinking about selling a scope to finance my first suppressor and temporarily using another scope between two different rifles.
If a 100yd zero on rifle #2 is found to be 0.7mil left and 0.2mil up from rifle #1, I'd think I could simply go 0.7mil right and 0.2mil down when I remount to rifle #1 and verify the zero with a shot. But I didn't know if it was really that easy in real-world operation.

It's not a stupid question. A friend and I were at the range with a local sniper team the other day, they were amazed at how 'you guys just switch scopes like that at the range'.
I do it all the time, and I leave the scope in the rings when I do it. If the angle of the bases is the same, and both bases are centered on the receiver, you will usually find that it takes very little adjustment to re-zero.

I don't think it's a stupid question at all.
I've been swapping a couple of NF scopes on different guns for a while. If I could afford it I'd have a scope dedicated to every rifle I own. I wish I could, but I can't.
So I put Seekins bases on all of my rifles and Seekins rings on all of my scopes, and I swap them around any time I need to. I can re-zero with a few shots, so I don't bother to keep notes of the corrections needed between rifles.
Like Graham said, the rings stay on the scope, and all of my bases are 20 MOA. That's what makes it easy to swap them around.

use a silver sharpie and mark the picatinny slots and use the same slots each time.

I swap a Nightforce 5.5-22x50 between a 308 and a 223 bolt gun..I leave the 100yd zero set for the 223 and use a black permanent sharpie to black out the 100 yd zero for the 308. I tape a small note just forward of the elevation turret to indicate the difference between the two zeros. I use the 223 as the zero and the blacked out elevation mark for the 308 because the 223 is the gun I use most. Fortunately the windage is the same for both guns and I dont have to make any adjustment here. I use Leupold QR rings and they always zero out on both guns.
