New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I’ve had both, I like the reticle better in the SWFA, the SHV is a little thick for me. I think the SWFA is the better value, basically the same features for less money, probably more robust too. No zero stop on swfa but there are solutions to that.
I have a SHV on my hunting rifle and it's held up good. It hasn't been abused but not babied either...........bounced around around in the back of trucks, fallen over, probably been dropped a few times and always held zero and tracked true. The glass is fine, close to my old NXS but not comparable to my ATACR . I like the MIL-R reticle, some don't. I have never had a SWFA to compare it with but they have a very good reputation as does Nightforce so I really don't think you could go wrong with either.
The shv F1 is the better all around scope. It has better glass by a decent margin. It has a zero stop (not important to me) and it has illumination which is very important if you will be using it to hunt. I took plenty of meat with mine.
The SWFA is the better value and is a good scope. The lack of illumination cost me some pigs on a hunt. For range use it works great.
I'm the guy who makes the zero stops for the SWFA scopes, so I'd like to say it's the better option. For the money, that's true. I've used both, though, and I'd have the NF over the SWFA is money were no object.
