Re: SWFA SS 10x42 Tactical Riflescope
I just bought a 10x42HD about a month ago from SWFA, and it was a good experience all the way around. I mounted it on an M1A using a Sadlak mount and Super Sniper low profile rings, which sadly broke a hammer hook sometime during the first 100 rounds. (Springfield is doing a fast turnaround repair of my trigger group with the addition of a forged hammer, and I'll have it back in my hands by Friday next week in time for a hog hunt; but that's another story.)
I really liked the SS 10x42HD scope once I got it zeroed. Difficulty zeroing was my fault, not the scope's. I didn't have the ring caps torqued down tight enough, and zero was wandering. Once I discovered and fixed the problem, it took me 2 rounds to get into the bullseye.
I liked it enough that when the bank account comes back up, I'm going to probably buy a 3-9x42HD for my M1A and transfer the 10x42HD over to a Remington 700 VSF I have.
Pretty much everything that Lowlight said in his video review is true. The click detentes are very positive. The mil/mil adjustments and reticle work real well for correcting fall of shot. For the price, I'm very satisfied with the quality and precision of the scope. Also, the HD glass is very nice. I've never looked through one of the really high end scopes like a U.S. Optics or a Nightforce, but the SS HD glass compares very favorably to a Leupold VXIII 4.5-14x50mm B&C scope I own. It's nice and bright, no flares, and clear.
I hope that helps.
