I have seen mention of these as a reliable scope and some review but can’t access Franks. Are these still a contender and does the Hide discount still apply?

They are good scopes with very good glass. They are durable and track well. While they may not have some of the feature that newer scopes have, they are a great value. They can be had used for around $1000+/-. If glass quality and tracking are important to you, I would give them a look.

Very good scope. Glass is very good and mine tracked perfect. Only thing I wish it had was a zero stop, but it's 10 mil per rev, so unless you are shooting elr, or maybe a 308, very rarely will you go past 1 rev. Long story short, in my opinion it's hard to beat in that price range. I've owned quite a few in the 1000-2000 dollar range, and a few in the 2500+ range.

New to the Hide and not familiar with the acronyms.......

Bushnell makes the DMR 2, LRHS, and LRTS. Steiner makes the t5xi. I think CS tactical (hide vendor) has or had some 5-25's for a great price similar to an illuminated swfa 5-20. However, I live close to swfa and have seen/handled all of the swfa scope models. They're reliable for sure.

Thanks for the explanation! Have a pair of Steiner binoculars and love them. Really am looking for 5-25 as time is not on my side for vision and want something reliable to go the distance. I’ll check out CS tactical and thanks again.

No joy on the Hide500 discount FYI. Pretty old info so not surprised but will say those guys are Johnny on the spot getting back to me. Did offer to see what they could do for me in the one I was interested in.

You're welcome. Let us know what you get

I have used one on my rifle for years and it is proven its self reliable and repeatable. Great value and a tough as nails scope. I have contemplated selling it a few times but I think I'd be lost without it.

I have one. It's the best value in the $1k price range by a mile if your priorities are tracking, build quality, and glass quality. It does lack a zero stop and a more advanced reticle, but that's about it. Just an all-around fantastic scope. Nothing in the $1k range that Bushnell or Burris makes are in the same ballpark from a build quality (Bushnell) and glass quality (Burris) standpoint.

I would get the non-illuminated model. The illumination is just ok and not worth the extra $ IMHO.

I’ve had one since they were first released. Shot it to 1250 (which is ~ 10 Mils for my gun/caliber) and it always returns to zero. Very good glass and seems built like a tank. For $1k there are other cooler options but I still think it’s a better quality scope than most if not all at this price point. Skip the Illumination bc it’s serviceable at best. Otherwise I love it.

I have a SWFA 3-15 and it is a rock solid scope. Great glass for $699. The 5-20 is more expensive but Frank did a favorable review a while back. A zero stop kit can be had for $22 and it is super simple to install...5 min. job.
I also have a Steiner T5xi 5-25 and am very happy with that scope as well. A SWFA HD 5-20 can be had for $1299.

The zero stop kit is no longer availble for the 5-20, it also voids the warrenty if you use it.

I've had a few of the 5-20 scopes. Good scopes 5 years ago but there are better options in the price range now. Although really all it needs is an updated reticle and zero stop and it'll be competitive again. I especially liked the more compact 30mm tube.
