I'm working on building a Sako Quad trainer rifle, and am looking at purchasing a SWFA Super Sniper scope. I will be using this rifle shooting 50-200 yards. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on which one to get, the 10x, 16x, or 20x. Anyone have any one of these on a rimfire gun or any other options around the same price point? Thanks.

Re: SWFA SS on Quad

I have a 10X on my 40X (that sounds kinda weird...). I use the rifle primarily for a silhouette 'Safari Match'. It involves all four animals at each meter line. So there are two NRA regulation size chickens at 100m. The 10X is fine for that and those chickens are pretty damn small. A buddy of mine bought a .50 that came with either a 16X or 20X mounted already. It was a fine scope but just too much magnification for me and didn't seem as bright as the 10X.

It looks pretty good on the Remington too

Re: SWFA SS on Quad

That's kind of what I was thinking, 20x seems like too much magnification, and the 10x is going to be brighter than the 16. I was just wondering if the 10x would be enough for 200yds with the 22.

Re: SWFA SS on Quad

I have the SS10HD on my 308. I mounted it on my quad and to me it feels like it's too much. Maybe a the variable SS might be a better option. I just ordered the Weaver Grand Slam at the Hide price. Can't beat mil/mil 3-10x for $300. Not FFP though.

Re: SWFA SS on Quad

^ Iggy made a point I forgot to mention. It's not an issue on the 40X due to it's full size and weight but I think the SS might be a little top heavy on my CZ.

Re: SWFA SS on Quad

I've got a 10X on my CZ and use it all the time. I don't notice it being top heavy. Maybe I got used to it. It's worth the trade off.

I've never seen a Bushnell 5-15 tactical but sounds good for a second choice.
