Is it tactical, though? Is it really?
I think that is the thing that people are saying here. No one is saying lets all pretend its 1890 and go back to black and white ads that would put most of us to sleep.
I wonder how over-used the term has become. Is this or that in a magazine really being used to further the tactics that an operator is applying in a situation where tactics are necessary?
999 out of 1,000 times, the answer of course is: no. Its a commercial styling and a commercial buzzword.
Is it necessarily too much to ask, why can't a great product stand on its own two feet without playing a game of make-believe that if you buy the product, you can expect neat red light effects, or to feel like you are swooping down from a helicopter with it?
Particularly if that product has/is never going to be used by ANYONE in such a way? The drake product in this case probably will. But so many don't and it may not be too much to ask that once in a while something is advertised without crazy lighting, a ghille suit, and a need to read it while wearing something with a BLACKHAWK! or 5.11 label.
