I was able to get my hands on one of the limited Boyds tacticool stocks, the rifle is going to be a complete build by me. This is a project rifle for my first/only born. Money is tight so that's the only reason I'm doing this myself, but I look at it as a good learning experience. I'm going to walk you through the steps I'm taking in case one of you guys want to attempt it and you can use it to guide you along the process.
first thing I did was to wipe the stock completely.
Second I got painters tape and masked what needed to be done.
third, I got a hobby knife and rounded the edges of the tape for a better look
forth step(poor mans texture mix) JB weld, mix the steel and the hardener and I used a old credit card to apply. Once applied I tapped the Jb weld for the texture look and with the same card removed the extra weld to remove the run down look.
I also did my deodorant before I did the stock
now I'm waiting for it to dry, if you have to tap it some more. Do it before it gets to hard and if the texture is to rough, you can just sand it for the more comfortable feel
