earlier last year, I bought a suppressor, transferred it to my home state, filled out the paper work for the tax stamp and a couple weeks later it was charged to my credit card...6 months later, bam new suppressor.
I had purchased another suppressor, same thing, transferred it to my home state, tax stamp paper work filled out 11/22/17, but still no $200 charge to my credit card? does this mean either, my dealer still hasn't sent my papers off, or has the atf started my paper work but not charged my credit card?

All they will tell you at the ATF is if it is pending and sometimes a pending date. if its not pending they have not received it. I have called a few 100 time for my customers and there always nice. if you have any troubles PM me and I'll call for you.

Man, I can’t tell u how much that means to me. My local dealer, he’s a good dude but I don’t think he likes it when I buy anything outside of his store, and I get that. But when hide pricing is blowing his pricing out of the water, it’s hard to pass up, on specific items. So I have a suspicion he’s not going to be quick on the ball to help me out. Thank u again for the help sir

I will update when I talk to my dealer or call the aft this week. been super busy with work now that the flu season is in full swing. stay healthy my friends!

soooo, I called the ATF a couple Fridays ago and they still have not received anything. I went to my local dealer and I talked to the guys. they double checked in the back and in the paper stacks and said for sure they have sent it off. I know when I sent my first form 4 off, the finger prints and info were perfect. I know this time, the printing went fine, but I know I had to make a correction on the info part and I'm wondering if this is what is putting it in delay? I asked the girl that was doing it if it was fine or should I start over, she just said mark a line through it and put the correction under it. are people still getting their money taken out after 2 weeks after submitting their forms or maybe a delay from the holidays? remember, we mailed in the forms roughly around thanksgiving.

To answer your question, mailed my F4 Indiv 12/1, check cashed 12/7. Your money should have been taken out/check cashed, that's the first thing they do. Did you send via certified mail? I would want some assurance that it got to the feds, and go from there.

my dealer mailed it for me. damn, I'm just getting more and more frustrated. the 2 times I've called the atf, they keep telling me could take up to 6 weeks

I'd suggest you track down where it was last seen and hold that person accountable. Hopefully your dealer was smart enough to have a tracking # for it. Doesn't sound like they've received your paperwork yet. They don't start any work before the payment clears.

my concern is they probably just stuck it in the regular mail with the right amount of postage. I'm going to give it to the end of the month. if nothing, probably to go the dealer, ask them to call the atf for me, and if nothing, we'll see what they will do about it. thanks again for the advice

Soooo, Monday I called the atf and nothing after over 2 months! I asked the atf what options I have. She said 1wait, 2 resubmit form 4. I went up to my local dealer and he emailed somebody at the atf. Tuesday, he said nothing was received at the atf. He went to the post office and found the envelope with 6 other form 4’s with no address to where it needed to be sent to. He claims he overnighted the envelope. So now the wait til continues but finally he did something about it. I’m pretty sure if I hadn’t investigated, those other 6 forms would still be at the post office next year.

guess what, $200 charge from the atf today! looks like they have my paperwork now. 2 months wasted for nothing but at least I was able to keep track of it. from what I've heard, my local dealer has messed up on paperwork multiple times. oh well, what do you do

His claim of overnighting the envelope is obviously false. He fucked up by not knowing how to mail an envelope (including the address of the destination). I'd expect not to pay the transfer fee once your forms are approved to him at least, since you saved him from the other 6 people who would soon find out he's an idiot if it were not for your assertiveness.

yes, I think I agree with you on the transfer fee. I'm not really expecting to pay it either way, bc they forgot to charge me for my first transfer fee on the other can I ordered too. they mean well, but damn, I feel like this is bad business. my hands are slightly tied bc they are the only SOT dealer around town. thanks again for the advice and offering your services.

No problem, if you go through him in the future you may want to just mail it certified yourself so you know it's done. I'd double check your paperwork before sending in too (typos, etc) if he's sloppy enough to forget to address the envelopes. Hate to have it sent in then have to re-do it for stupid reasons. Don't know how it is in your state, but here in Indiana I get 3 copies, one goes to me, one to the dealer, one to the ATF with my fingerprints. I go in to the dealer as soon as he has my item, fill out the paperwork, head to the sheriffs dept, then head to the post office.

yeah, in Missouri, we just to do the local dealer, fill out some paperwork and send it in with photos and fingerprints. I think there might be a copy of it in the suppressor box but not 100% sure.

Man I'm glad to see you get somewhere with this. I would be looking for another dealer. Heck I email a copy off all paperwork and tracking numbers to my customers just to keep them in the loop of what's what and where things stand to eas there waiting minds..

yeah, I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. maybe they are new to filling out form 4's but from what I've been hearing, this is not a new issue from them. and on other instances, they forget to get back with customers on other issues all together. they are a bunch of good dudes, carry all the "cool" stuff, but damn, I would think this would be bad for business.

Yes it will catch up to them if this happens a lot.. I have to compete with others so I can't let things slip by.it only takes one person to ruin a company name around here.

Man, move to GA.... I promise you won't have that problem with me...

Honestly, the problem you has is why I have my FFL/SOT. I had 5K in had and a local store owner ( only person who know about suppressors) wouldn't come out of his office and talk to me. I went to buy from him twice. Same thing both times. I just went filled my papers out and got my FFL then two months later got my SOT and haven't looked back. I do gun repair and sell stuff out of my home shop. I sold 70+ suppressors last fiscal year. It's worth being nice and helping the people who just are getting into suppressors and shooting.

it pays to be knowledgable and nice. hopefully I won't have to buy another suppressor but at this points, it's kind of an addiction, lol
