I got a question regarding temperature and powder. I know that some types of powder will respond to negative changes in temp (less velocity) but will your shots become a little erratic, meaning it could be low then off to the left or right on the next shot and so forth?

I started shooting back in June and up till now have started to get decent groups at 100yds until last Saturday. I shoot the same ammo, factory Federal 100gr .243 for consistency until I begin to hand load in the coming weeks. Up to two weeks ago I was making .75-1 inch groups, though it was relatively warm then went Saturday same conditions except for the temp. It was probably in the mid to low 30's. I was kind of figuring I'd be a little low due to the cold but was probably off in one direction or another from my point of aim by 1.5 inches give or take. My scope is new and have already used it as well as dressed appropriately. Just trying to narrow things down if its me, the ammo/cold or something else.

Some powders are more temp sensitive than others and yes it can mess with a load. Not sure what powder they use in that loading though.

I like to use the Hodgdon Extreme line of powders which are much more consistent over wide temp ranges. Look into them when you start loading.

Yes it can definitely affect accuracy, the pressure of the load can be different which affects how your barrel vibrates, it also can affect the velocity which changes the amount of time it takes the bullet to exit the barrel, which changes where in the vibration the barrel is. Not to mention how temperature affects the stiffness of the steel in the barrel.
