After reading an annealing article on 6mmbr I took their recommendation to use Tempilstik (the crayon) instead of Tempilaq (the liquid). The problem is Tempilstik doesn't work, it won't mark the brass, all I can get is some powder after rubbing the case like crazy. Well off to order some Tempilaq now.

Re: Tempilstik

tempil stiks are made for contact reading! They do not work like crayons. You get the steel, or brass heated then touch the item. If it melts you are atleast at that temp or higher.

That is okay, however what if you brass is too hot!

Re: Tempilstik

I tried the method of heating first then touching it with the tempilstik, that didn't work well either. First it's going to cool some by the time I grab the case with some pliers then mark the neck and remark below the shoulder with another temp stick. Also it was hard for me to tell if the stick melted or not, it wasn't very clear. I did order the tempilaq, hopefully that will work out better.
