How much scope clearance from the barrel do I need if I want to fit some tenebraex flip up scope caps. I have about a 4mm gap at the moment and I was wondering is this enough ?

That's pretty close. I had a similar issue when going with a straight 1.25" taper barrel for a recent build, and they wouldn't fit. If I remember I had 3mm clearance. I feel like I should still get higher rings.

i'd hazard a guess cause at the moment i'm a little lazy to get up and check mine but 6mm or 1/4 inch would be a minimum

Thanks for the replies. I will have to look at another brand so. I only bought the scope and rings and don't want to get higher ones.
Scope is a sightron sv 10-50x60 so there might not be much available

this should give you a better idea of clearance.

you wont need as much if you spin them sideways to flip to the side, but that is up to the individual and what they like.

and depending on brand of scope you might get the cap with to flip tabs or just one great big smiley.

Keep in mind the cap can be rotated such that the hinge is on the 9 or 3 o'clock position. This greatly reduces the clearance.

Here's a 50mm obj on a tapered barrel with a 1" high ring. The cap will not clear when the hinge is in the 12 o'clock position, but this isn't a problem when rotated 90deg.
