I was thoroughly impressed with my recent purchase so I decided to do a quick write-up and hope some of you can use this information. My Terrapin X is an incredible rangefinder, but unfortunately it does not come with a protective pouch. I've done a ton of research on various rangefinder pouches on the market and while they all look great, the one from FHFGEAR really stood out to me. As with any gear, and I'm sure a lot of you run into this, until you get your hands on the product it's really difficult to know for certain if it will work or not.

While none of the rangefinder cases are designed specifically for the Terrapin X, most of them have rough enough dimensions to work just fine with the device. The pouch from FHFGEAR is at the higher end in terms of price, but we need something robust to protect our devices and this does just that. The pouch is fully padded with high density foam on all sides, including the flap. I'll post some pictures below with descriptions.

Here is the front view of the pouch and I decided to use the buckle it comes with, but also has a bungee cord that can be used. I felt the buckle provides a more robust attachment and I know it will not come loose even while hiking in the mountains or digging around a pack looking for something. There is a small hook that is expertly sewed into the front of the pouch which you can see in later images that holds the bungee cord. Definitely a nice feature and well thought out.

There are ample attachment points on the pouch. Each side has a single column of Molle webbing and the company offers other pouches, such as a Kestrel pouch, that can be attached to the main pouch - I may end of getting this, but I need to figure out how to hold my weather vane as well. I will likely use the rear Molle attachment points to attach to the inside of my backpack.

As mentioned previously, the pouch is padded with high density foam on all sides including the pouch. In the picture below you can see the bungee attachment hook I mentioned earlier, and the inside is lined with ripstop nylon and it's really well done. I also took a picture of the Terrapin X inside the pouch, as you can see the eyepiece comes out a small amount, but it's really nothing to be concerned with. It's also a big selling point for me this is made in the USA. When I called FHFGEAR to ask a couple of questions, an employee by the name of Rick was very helpful and had some really good suggestions on solving some packing issues for me. That is another big plus is you deal directly with employees and the owner of the company who are very willing and eager to help.

My overall impression of this pouch was very positive and the quality of the product and design is the best I have ever seen. I am not a gear collector and I try to find the best product possible to for my application and I have returned plenty that did not meet my requirements. The price of the pouch is inline with the quality and design and if you appreciate high-end products that exceed your expectations, this is the product for you.

I don't typically write reviews for products, but this one really exceeded my expectations and the company is solid and deserves some recognition for doing a really good job.

I hope this helps some of you make a decision on a pouch for your Terrapin X (or other devices), you won't go wrong with this.

Thanks
