I thought all Texas Rangers were issued depleted uranium rounds these days...at LEAST for their breaching shotguns?!?! Oh well...just goes to show you what you can learn from the Internet these days!!!

Re: Texas SWAT issued ammo?

it depends.....IF they wear S.W.A.T. boots, then to be totally tactical, and according to the brain trust on ar15dotcom, yes they use swat bullets.....and counter sniper scopes

Re: Texas SWAT issued ammo?

We issue Hornady 60gr TAP to both SWAT and patrol. We have issued M193 before as well, but that was because we couldn't find anything else at the time.

Everyone remembers 2008/2009, right?

Thanks for those of you with the "good" replies. To the sarcastic ones I hope you are never in a situation where you are called upon to explain to a court why you used a particular choice of ammo to defend yourself or home where the plaintiff was shot and/or killed.... it pays to be knowledgeble and prepared, trust me...

You haven't been around here much, have you?

I suggest that you lighten up, accept a certain measure of gallows humor and sarcasm, or prepare to be pummeled in print.

Yeah, another post that does not answer the question. Sorry about that, but worshiping at the tacticool altar of whatever the "big boys" happen to be using this month is truly worth little more than a passing glance. I have personally debated the legal ramifications of ammunition choice with a certain still-famous gun writer, and we both agree that the circumstances of application of lethal force, personal judgment of the reasonableness of fear for life or limb, and shot placement, are far, far more important that what ammunition is used.

"Wild Bill" Hickok defeated many an opponent with a 6-shot cap and ball revolver with an energy profile amazingly similar to a .380 Auto.

Think about that when you're agonizing over ammo choice. But remember the changes in the population since then too.
