hey all thinking about textureing my my hs precision pss stock, whats your input, good? bad? how do ya like it? does it actually help? pics of self done jobs would be great too!

Re: Texture stock or not?

I like texture on my guns. It does help if you get sweat or water on your gun. I stippled my savage stock and it feels great. I also have done texture on my other rifles and it was not that hard and the results were great! I would do it.

Re: Texture stock or not?

I like the texture as well. I want to do it on my Choate Tactical but unsure if the stock material will take MarineTex or not. You should be G2G with your fiberglass one though.

It will take marinetex. Just rough it up. Not a big deal. Stipple it if you are that worried.

Re: Texture stock or not?

i stipple my three gun guns, but dont worry about my precision rifles to much. a friend of mine did his hs stock on a 700p with marinetex then he painted over it and i dont think it helped it seemed to slick and my hands werent wet at all. so if u do u might not want to paint over it.

Re: Texture stock or not?

I found adding grip texture to the HS Precision stock greatly enhanced the handling. I left mine pretty rough, I used Devcon and raised the texture by slapping a spatula on it.

Funny you mention it...
Rustoleum just introduced a line of textured sprays, I was considering using some in addition to the Krylon Camo, but chickened out...I'll bet they would work very well. Supposed to be indoor use only, but I'm sure the small amount of time my rifles would be exposed to UV wouldn't be an issue.

No problem, use blue painters tape to cover the bits you don't want covering and only apply a thin layer of Devcon. Once its been on 30 / 40 mins you can take down any high points and take the tape off (pulling at a sharp angle to create a clean edge. Then leave to cure.
