I've been hunting and plinking for 30 years. Last fall I succumbed to my interest in long range shooting. My goal to consistently ring steel at 800 yards to improve my practical shooting skills (hunting) bypracicing my 5 position shooting skills.

I purchased a used Rem 308 SPS tactical with bipod, and Nikon 4-16 x 50 with 20moa base. At best I was shooting 1.5-2 MOA at 100 and 200 yards.

Then I found SNIPERSHIDE and began the Journey. Attended an Appleseed with my daughter. Purchased a 22 trainer and to ensure plenty of good training without being tempted to shoot my 308 I sent it to Manners for a new stock. After approximately 3,000 rounds down the tub of my 22 and 6 months my 308 returned last week. Manners was incredible. there were some miscommunications on my part. UPS lost my barreled action and it took a few weeks for them to find it

. When it was at GAP getting bedded the caustic nature of the chemicals screwed up the Alumahide finish. To my surprise Manners re-finished it in Ceracote at no charge . The gang at Manners was incredible to work with and prompt with their communication. Needless to say the stock is top notch.

Today I took it out for a test run.

One shot at 200 yards
dialed the correction, three shots at 200yards
moved to 100 three shots touching 1.5 high
dialed the 100 yard dope three shots on three bulls
dialed the dope back to 200 three more shots at 200 2 joined the original
group and I pulled the last shot 3/8 out

I know this is not impressive to compared to many of the talented marksmen on this site. It is a noticeable and rewarding improvement for me. THANK YOU

This is a testament to this community, Manners Stocks, Southwest Ammunition and Long Rifles inc. With out the wisdom and suport for proper technique and training and the incredible products and customer suport from these three business I would still be "spraying and praying"

So now the real work and learning begins as I venture past 250yards-300yards

Re: Thank You Sniperhide !!

Glad to hear that the boys and girls over at Manners treated your right. I've heard nothing but good out of that company. This site has definitely provided me with more information that I can handle while completely depleting my pocket book at the same time... Great looking rifle you have their sir.

Re: Thank You Sniperhide !!

That's excellent. Looks like the gun has turned out real nice and will be a shooter.

I don't recognize those table looking thingys in the picture though. Must be to place your gun and stuff on when not shooting.

Cheers.

For some reason all the public ranges are packed with tables like these for pistol and rifle stations. Early on weekdays its easy to shoot positions between the benches.
Weekends or after work it is downright scary down there on the ground. I learned the hard way. Been stepped on dropped on, was even shooting prone and had a guy set his spotter up on a tripod over me.

Neeless to say I'm more selective about when I go. Its so dam convenient less than 3 miles from the homestead! there is a nice semiprivate range about 20 miles distance that has a nice selection of steel out to 800. Waiting on approval of my application.
