will be cool

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage model 10

Thats really good news. Seems like the Savage action is getting more and more respect in the aftermarket. It's not that I'm not knocking the Remington (I'm doing a 260 on a 700) just that the Savage is a viable option also.

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

I've been belly aching forever wanting a AICS for my 10FP, but I think now I'm just gonna run the new Manners T5.

I think this is great news though. I love my AICS' and more stock options for the Savage shooters is a great thing.

Yes, when?
I would sell my AI rifle and get an SPR in AICS!

The AICS Savage I will expect will expect and estimate available in June/July 2010 and possibly earlier. The Model 110 Long Action will be later in the year well after the S/A release.
To the design and which bolt spacing model, this will be for the current models ONLY, not going for a "retro-fittable" chassis for the past designs.
To address the "left hand AICS" not being available in the first quarter of 2009, at Shot Show we were estimating Jun/Jul 09. We did accept delays this year on the AICS L/H due to military contracts and new product developments. However, they are available and shipping to/from the distributors since Oct 09.

Will it be priced about the same as the 700????

my guess will be yes

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

Well the good news is the pricing will be the same as currently offered on both the Stage I.5 and II series for the Savage. Colors will be the same as well.
To the custom run for the older models, I can honestly say no sir, no way to entertain this due to the amount of current production and requirements. But I am sure that Savage would be glad to see more customers purchase the updated models, see helping them out. LOL.
To the Winchester, honestly the numbers are just not there for us to invest the time to offer that system. So sorry to say that would be another no go for the time being. However, with all this being said, I am sure all would agree we are listening and offering accessories to systems which customers have requested over the years. Thank you all for the inputs and look forward to the upcoming year.

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

Yes the definitive answer is the Savage AICS will be offered for the CURRENT single feed Model 10 receiver. I have spoken with Savage to verify and their actions from late 2008 till current on the Short Action are as stated by them "the new single feed same bolt spacing model" covering the "Accustock" which is the same receiver. The older pre-2009 will be on several different bolt spacing receiver, this AICS will not accommodate those. Hope that answers the questions for now.

It's to bad Savage has to keep dicking around with their receivers. </div></div>

Indeed. No joy for my old receiver I guess. I have no idea why that had to fuck with stuff.....

Stagger feed action screw spacing = 4.275"

Center feed action screw spacing = 4.400"

If you have 4.400" action screw spacing, you'll be good to go!

The best way to figure out what you have is by measuring the action screw spacing. Even the new center feed models originally built in .223/.204 ruger do not have "single center feed" magazines.

I know it maybe a bit too early to ask this, but will the Savage AICS chassis weigh the same as the Remington AICS chassis?

They moved the action screws because customers over the years have complained that the old spacing put the rear action screw too close to the trigger, resulting in the 'half-pillar' rear bedding - the new location moves it forward just enough to get something closer to a full pillar around it. On the other end, the old spacing had the front action screw only engaging a couple threads worth; the new location moved it back into the 'meat' behind the bolt lug. The result is a stronger receiver design that is more resistant to failure.

Some people bitch about the old receivers have something wrong (in their opinion), others bitch when the factory finally takes steps to fix the perceived problems. Classic example of you can't make all the people happy all the time... or as my old man would put it: some people would gripe about being hung with a new rope...

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

Hmmm... guess I'm thinking the BR & Palma vs. the F/TR & F-Class. My mistake. My other point (about changes being made for concrete reasons, and people griping either way) stands.

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

Looks like there is a canadian company coming to market with one as well starting Feb 1, 2010:

Any idea if this will be effected by trademarks/patents or will the AI and the ATR chassis go head to head?

Can you post a link for that?

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

Wow, there's lots of competition this year for Savage AICS style chassis. I know Pete from Roedale Precision is in the works with one to use AI skins. Now this Canadian company?

Competition is great for the consumers, so I can't complain. I hope these come out soon, my Savage has been itching for one forever!

Sorry its Alberta Tactical Rifle that is making the stock and the page is here. looks like the stock will retail for 1095 cdn so same price as a remington aics.

EDIT: the stock will also work with both old and new savage bolt spacings for those that need it.

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

Not to run this subject into the ground(sorry if i am).I just called these people and they seem legit.there chassis system will be ready 1rst week of feb.The price will be the same as i stated above this seems kinda high but for the price it comes with one set of ai.skins, cheek piece, and 1 magazine so that makes me feel better about the price.
As far as any conflict with ai.They said there is none(who knows time will tell).....
Now for the good news Us older savage owners will be shown some love.....They are making two models one for 4.275 and one for 4.400 hell i may order one just for shits and giggles. That is after i save some more pennies....

Re: The AICS is finaly coming for that savage mode

He is legit, he has built three rifles for me and I shoot with Him on a regular basis. The make quality stuff. I have a 308, 300wm and a 80% built by them AR.
