Movie Theater The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Watched it this weekend. The first two stories had a totally different feel than the rest of the movie. I still found it entertaining but the last 2/3 was a bummer. Strange direction to go. Start out funny and end on a downward note.
So is it now on Netflix/Amazon prime, etc?
For some reason, I did not think it started until Friday!

Thoroughly enjoyed it... Bizarre... funny... strange...
Loved the fact that a Jack London short story was one of the vignettes...
The first segment was hilarious!
Overall, if you like the Coen Bros... don't miss this.

That said it is kind of all about strange dialogue and repartee. A tribute to old westerns and the old west and some pretty dark humor. It’s not like a traditional Western but it’s full of all kinds of weird references to traditional westerns.
As I said,if you like Cohen brothers stuff you’ll love this. If Not then you might find it kind of bizarre.

I greatly enjoyed some of the vignettes. It obviously has something going for it since my kids sat down and watched it with me and it held their attention the whole time. Some damn beautiful country in that film. Looks like they filmed each part in a different area.
Watched it the other night. It's entertaining, but in some very unconventional ways. In fact you have to think about what entertainment actually means before you accept this notion.
Entertainment evokes an emotional response. Most movies deal in the basics of love, fear, hate, triumph, joy. The kind of primary colors of emotions. But there are a lot of colors between the primaries, and they are tickled by these vignettes in ways unexpected and at times uncomfortable and unsettling. But if you think about it, you are being entertained. You don't have to feel good. You just have to feel engaged, and the Cohens are masters at doing that.
They challenge the norms of the kinds of storytelling we've grown accustomed to. Beginnings, middles, and endings are at times overlooked or discarded as unimportant to the meat and potatoes of the stories.
The stories mirror real life more than we realize, because we're not expecting real life in our movies these days.
Put into your mind that you're a sort of tourist, given the privilege of slipping in and slipping out of slices of the lives of others. Like being a tourist in a city, you don't see everything. You see what you see and you are entertained by it.

Watched it last night. Liked it a lot.
I think the prospector was my favorite story but I sure did like Pan Shot with Stephen Root.

I like how "death" was the recurring theme in every story. When you get to the last story, you really have to think about it a bit to understand what is really going on.
I love the cast of characters in all the stories. I like that the Coen's take some familiar faces, some complete unknowns, and weave in some great talent from the decades past. I hadn't seen Clancy Brown or Tyne Daly do anything in front of the camera in years.

I grew up watching the original "Oaters".
Gonna hold off on Buster, I don't want my treasured memories getting skewed.

It's great, how can it not be? Cohen Bros.? Easily two of the best directors of our time and they wrote, produced and directed it. It's really, really good, one of the best things on Netflix. True Cohen bros. dialogue, brilliant characters. After Buster wastes Joe and sings that song? Hilarious. It's 6 shorts, not one long film so easy to digest and you're bound to love at least one of 'em if not all.
