This looks dark as hell and i'm honestly stoked for it. I hope it earns an R rating because it certainly seems to want to carry it.

I thought i would absolutely hate Pattinson but after seeing The Lighthouse and The King the guy is actually very talented. Just has a pretty boy look to him.

Well, I'll be the first to admit when I heard he was going to play Wayne/Batman I instantly was turned off. Keaton and Bale are my fav's thus far, I won't even mention the others.

That said ... after seeing this trailer I'm excited for this movie and yes, I hope it carries an R rating.

just took the wife to see this...

in short, This is the best portrayal of Batman i have ever seen.

the movie is 3 fucking hours long....but it doesnt feel it, the pacing and story telling is good and keeps you engaged the entire time.

the characters feel "real", with actual motivations, and clearly defined limitations....Batman is portrayed as just a dude who knows how to fight, and has some cool toys....buy hes not a fucking invincible super ninja like in the Nolan films...

Cinematically, the film is beautifully shot....it has a really nice Film nior style that isnt campy or cheesy

Ide like to say Robert Pattinson brought a lot to the roll....but if im honest, the film didnt give him a lot of range....frankly you could have swapped him out with really anyone and the movie wouldve been just as good....when it comes to pure acting tallent, i still think the torch remains with Christian Bale.

they really didnt go into a whole lot of back story into Batmans past....but honestly, who doesnt know that already?

I wouldve like to see them explore the love intersest angle with Sellina Kyle just a little more than they did.....then they wouldve been able to leverage that to give him a little more internal struggle.....however, they did set it up nicely to explore that in future films.

Zoe kravits does a good job with Selina Kyle....she manages to play the roll well without trying to steal the spotlight.

the real star of the show is Paul Danos Riddler.....holy shit.....mix BTK with Jigsaw and you have Dano's Riddler......the character takes some time to build, but its fucking worth it at the end.

Jeffrey Wright does a solid job with Det. Gordon......hes no Gary Oldman....but, i mean no one is fucking Gary Oldman .....i can really see Wright growing into this roll.

the batmobile.....i am fucking in love with......1/2 dodge charger 1/2 Trophy truck....i liked the Rumbler.....but this has a certain gene se qua

overall this was a dark, gritty, old school detective drama in a superhero cape...it was well written and brings a fresh perspective to a stale character...unlike much of what Hollywood has been turning out recently, a lot of effort went into this film, and it really shows.....10/10 recommended.
Looks like somewhere here is a comic book nerd and jacks off to Gerbal Porn!

I’ll second this in every way. Wish they’d given Pattinson more room to grow into the character, but in a way, it worked as filmed. My take was that this was an earlier/younger Batman, who was still finding his place and thus opted to keep his mouth shut more often than opening it.

The film’s general feeling was more realistic than any other Batman I’ve seen. Batman Begins was the first “superhero” movie I really got in to, and I love the Nolan versions as a result (also, Ledger is the best villain I’ve ever seen). However, while they’re not “cartoony,” they do stretch reality in many ways, which I’m fine with (they’re superhero films, after all). “The Batman,” however, toned a lot down to where just about everything was believable, with a few exceptions for tech. But Bruce Wayne, while being rich via inheritance, wasn’t some over-the-top playboy and was instead withdrawn, introverted, and wholly committed to who he really was, The Batman.

And yeah, I was sporting a tremendous woody during the Batmobile scenes. That thing was amazing!

This was my only real complaint. And it’s minor. I agree what you said. I think an R rating and withholding Paul Dano from casting much like they did with Spacey in Se7en would’ve have made his reveal hit sooooo much harder. That and i really was foaming at the mouth for Phoenix’s cameo when he meets the joker.

Colin Farrell is absolutely astounding as the penguin too. John Turturro was also great as Falcone.

It’s easily a 9/10 for me. This was a Batman for comic fans for sure. The noirey narration, extremely dark take, and broken Bruce were soooooo good. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in Batman. Also loved that they played the remastered “something in the way” over again.

Lots of my friends held that Nolan’s Batman was better but i really disagree. I can stomach that it’s hard to match ledger but that is the real standout in the Nolan films. I truthfully prefer begins to the dark knight and rises. But i still believe Nolan just got the character wrong comparably speaking

I really wish they’d gone with Phoenix for Joker. Nothing against Barry Keoghan (only seen him in a few things but he did an excellent job), but Phoenix is the next best option to Ledger, and I felt Barry’s laugh didn’t quit fit the vibe of how dark the movie was. But we’ll have to see how well Barry carries the mantle in the next one.

Aside from that, I fully agree on casting, they did an excellent job!

I have seen the film (movie to from USA) and I thought that it was quite good, until it went woke! Mentions "white privilege", just totally unnecessary and out of content to the film!
