I'll have to refer to the manual, but I believe it's perfectly acceptable for a man to say a puppy, co-ed, or kid is cute. It is not o.k. when speaking about a car.

I have had labs for years and over that time frame all of my labs have had 3 names each.
8 weeks to 6 months i called them Spit for spit that damn thing out (couch cushions, shoes, kid down the street shoes, cat shit)
6 months to 18 months Rowdy for settle your Rowdy ass down
After 18 months BDD for Best Damn Dog a man could want
