When it comes to politicians, it's how it should be. IF...there's anything to be gained...a politician is in the perfect career field to do so. So much of our tax $$ are F'n squandered as it is, by back-door deals and special interests.

I wouldn’t fill that shit out either. Fuck-em. Many are volunteer jobs and not getting a dime for the jobs they do. It’s none of their fucking business what I own. If I own a fishing boat, it’s none of their business. If my tv cost more than $1000, it’s none of their fucking business. If I own a gun over $1000, it’s none of their FUCKING business. My wife’s sewing machine cost over $1000. Do you think they need to know that? Fuck em.
We went over this in the last thread. The law applies to all “elected” officials, which by and large are people making money decisions that affect every taxpayer. If you were elected, it is no longer a “volunteer position, whether or not you are paid.
Since I’ve followed local, state and national politics, including attending meetings where these people make decisions affecting me and my dollars, I’ve seen how much obvious graft and back door dealing goes on.
Sure, it would be great if we had fewer laws and we could trust everyone to always do what is truly in the best interests of their constituents. It would also be nice if there really was a Santa Claus and a tooth fairy. Unfortunately none of the above is reality.
