I'm so sick of the political posturing by the president, and the anti-gun left on this gun control debate.

One CNN article after another is pushing the gun control agenda, and I simply can't stand articles like this one, which were obviously written by people who know nothing about guns, but have obviously taken a strong stance on the subject.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/17/opinion/francis-gun-control-groundswell/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

But, back to the president for a moment, I'm really annoyed at the manner in which he's using "the children" to his political advantage on the gun debate, and I hope most people can see through this thinly veiled grasp at our collective conscience. The picture of the president signing executive orders on guns in front of all of the children who wrote him letters requesting gun control is a disgusting insult to the adult voters and gun owners in this country.

Simply put, there's a reason that 5-10 year old children aren't allowed to vote, enter contracts, or essentially make adult-like decisions. While we can all admire the innocence of youth, the fact remains that the 5-10 year old children shown in these pictures do not have the political capacity or breadth of reason to understand the whole scope of this gun issue... kind of like how children always seem to want to cure poverty by simply printing more money (yeah, we could print more money, but that doesn't really address the issue).

So, the mere fact that the president seems most concerned about the opinions of these children on the gun debate is simply insulting to every adult in this country.

All of that aside, I'd really like to see where all of the gun owners who claimed that Obama wouldn't go after guns are hiding right now. Prior to the election I saw some people on a variety of gun forums talking about the fact that "Obama hasn't gone after any guns", and comparing the rest of us to chicken little (granted, that was a minority position on the issue). I sure don't see anyone saying that now!

So, I just had to rant. I do hope we can hold the line on this issue, since this is probably the worst time for gun owners since 1994 or so. Feel free to add your $0.02

Re: The ignorant, and doing it for the children.

"Not wanting to wade into the debate around gun control, my position on guns has been one of naivety and willed ignorance."

And yet...

Guns = evil.

"In 2003, my cousin's 15 year old was shot and killed by a robber..."

And yet...

In complete support of taking guns away from the law abiding

Write anyways. The idea that strife and anxiety will wear you out of the fight is one of the principles they act upon.

Read "Rules for Radicals." You'll understand what's going on now a lot better.

"Citizens of this country have the right to education. This right is ensured by universal, compulsory elementary education; by education, including higher education, being free of charge; by the system of state stipends for the overwhelming majority of students in the universities and colleges; by instruction in schools being conducted in the native language, and by the organization in the factories, state farms, machine and tractor stations and collective farms of free vocational, technical and agronomic training for the working people.

ARTICLE 122. Women in this country are accorded equal rights with men in all spheres of economic, state, cultural, social and political life. The possibility of exercising these rights is ensured to women by granting them an equal right with men to work, payment for work, rest and leisure, social insurance and education, and by state protection of the interests of mother and child, prematernity and maternity leave with full pay, and the provision of a wide network of maternity homes, nurseries and kindergartens."

Oh wait, that was the constitution of the USSR in 1936.

Never give up the fight.
