New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
John Bonham was a foundation point of many Zep songs. This clip breaks down his genius in the dissection of rhythm counts, 3s, 4's 8s and 12s. Pure creativity.
My favorite drummer is the legendary Carmine Appice (who Bonham admired and said was a big influence on him). In fact Led Zep opened for Vanilla Fudge back before they hit it really big.
Listen to these clips of Carmine Appice drumming and the similarities are pretty striking imho:

Carmine is also a favorite of mine. I got to see Vanilla Fudge and BBA back in the day. The Fudge show was a bit loose, probably booze in the dressing room. Beck, Bogert and Appice was flat out amazing. Makes me think of the lyrics to Mudshark. Put the red snapper in the red snapper!
