Well, I was decided and ready to ship my rifle out then discovered the new 6.5 SAUM thread. Any reason to go 260 when you can go with the SAUM and use same components at 3-400 fps faster? My buddy and I are both thinking about building one of these for LR precision work and maybe to try in a few F-class matches. I have a GAP 308 with lawton 7000, badger M5 magazine system. I know I would need a new bolt and possibly some magazine modifications?

So, I hope some of the guys that have both see this and give me a good comparison :)

You'll be burning more powder, dealing with less magazine capacity, and have a considerably more difficult time finding/prepping brass.

If you're cool with that, go ahead.

You can run Alpha WSM mags and not lose any mag capacity
Brass prep is necking down and re-trimming. Really not that far outside of the realm of other brass prep.
Also, Josh @ Copper Creek offers prepped brass and loaded ammo. I only use him for my 6.5 SAUM needs.

You will be able to push that bullet faster with little effort and you are extending your range considerable with the SAUM over a 260.

Thanks! I got your PM...its 6.5 SAUM for sure. Brass will be the hardest thing to find, maybe I'll put out some new 308 Lapua brass on here for a trade in hopes of scoring some brass..never know.

Can't wait to get this thing built. Other nice thing is it will use the same powder as my 338 Lapua.
