Just curious what did the build cost compared to buying one? </div></div>

I will do a cost breakdown when I wrap up the build review.

I bought the Eagle lower a couple years ago when there was talk of another "ban" but before the pre-election craziness, so I got a heck of a deal on it. However I don't think I saved much money.

I hope to post the next installation of the build in the next day or two. Then I have two other articles that will use this rifle, but focus on other things. One will be a review of the ADM Recon S mount.

If it's nice tomorrow I am going to try to do a "break in" video. What that means, I will leave to the imagination.

Re: The New AR10

Very sexy indead. I've got an IRA DPMS styled lower that will be my build over the next year or so. I'm planning on going for a similiar style, maybe an 18 in bbl though.
How do you like the BO forend?

I think it's a MUCH better option than a 10x Super Sniper, but probably not as good as the new SS 3-9x FFP.

With this mount it doesn't matter, so it's always prefferable to place the levers on the side opposite the bolt/operating handle/charging handle/etc.

At night it would be a bad deal to go to clear a malfunction and be slamming on your mount levers trying to figure out why your charging handle won't come back.

Also, for a right handed shooter (which I am) this configuration keeps the levers away from your body. Webbing likes to try to pull levers open. I had an issue like this on my original (non-locking) LaRue CCO mount.

On a cantilevered mount, or inclined mount you can't do it.

Now if I start having ejection issues I will switch it back, but I don't foresee any problems.

Re: The New AR10

Accuracy with FGMM wasn't stellar at about 1 MOA, but I am not sure if it was me or the ammo. The 1:10 twist may not like the 168SMK as much as I had hoped.

1 MOA is still good enough to qualify with, but it's not what I hoped for. I will be loading up some 175SMK's and some 178 A-Max. Using the fired cases from today as a guide for re-sizing I should be able to roll up some ammo it likes a little better. I wish I had some M118LR on hand. That is what this barrel was designed to shoot.

Here is what it looked like in action today:
