A little story I did about building a 3 Gun Rifle and it being good enough for PRS.

Barrel, BCG, Comp and Buffer

Upper, Lower, Gas system, Trigger and small parts

Optics, Support, NP3 and other stuff

Ammo and accuracy testing.

Not gonna lie, I winced a little when I read about a Bartlein going on a 3 gun rifle. But I guess if your matches are biased towards long range and away from bay hosing it makes sense.

I understand your cringe, but as mentioned in part 1 it all depends on the type and distance of stages you shoot in your area. We go long in AZ, other areas of the US like 3GN, 100yds is far and that would be a different build.

For sure. Even though I shoot all my 3 gun rifles to at least 800 yards, 400 is considered a long poke in a match around here. It's almost embarrassing how much effort I put into their long range capability only to never use it on the clock..

Nice article, definitely enjoyed reading it. Its crazy how far one can take a 77 grain OTM given the right equipment and atmospherics. What is your sea level out there?

Definitely inspires me to grab a Bartlein for my 16” AR, but my realistic use is sub 100 yards and its more of a hoser rifle.

Oh and thats not a magwell, its a freaking mag chute. Really like how functional that looks.

1200-1600ft depending on which range I go to.

Welcome to the club OP.
I've been working with Paul for quite a while now. The most recent addition to my collection is an 18" Bartlein 6.5 Grendel with rifle length gas and superlative arms AGB from Craddock. I decided to pair it up using the LaRue stealth 2.0 Upper/ handguard kit to take full advantage of the true free-floating design, internally I went with JP LMAS BCG and SCS.

Not only is it unbelievably smooth to shoot but the accuracy is sub half MOA with Hornady Black 123 ELD Ammo, The first two five round groups that I shot were .498 and .467 MOA

For the lower I chose the PWS full amby series with AR gold trigger, running the full ambidextrous lower really helps to manipulate the rifle when in those odd shooting positions.

Two questions...and I will admit I only looked over the comments and the accuracy testing link.
1) Are the results based on 1 five shot group or the average of 4-5 five shot groups?

2) Are you shooting groups with a certain level of free recoil?

1 5 round group.

I used the Atlas bipod and a Wiebad rear bag. 100y groups were from a bench, 500y groups were prone.

Paul and his guys do great work.
Paul is a top notch guy & I've worked with him since he was at WOA.

But he's getting overwhelmed with his OEM business along with all his one off custom work so I hope he doesn't get to the point where his service level suffers................I bought 2 barrels from him last year & the last one took 14+ weeks & he's out even further right now. Two years ago, it was a month or less.

I'm glad he's doing well, I just hope he doesn't lose his niche.

Very nice build, by the way.

MM
