Thermal Hunting Rifle

Curious to what you predator hunters are using as a chambering for your thermal rigs. I always thought low recoiling and fast/flat was ideal since it’s hard to judge distance through a thermal (unless you have a LRF built in).

I planned to use a 22-250 1:8 twist to support the heavies.

Kind of depends on what you hunt and at what range. I think an AR in 6.5 Grendel is most versatile, but i also have a 300 Blackout rig for shorter distances.

For pigs whatever’s cheapest in an ar as you can walk up 40 yards from them.
For longer range coyotes 22 creed for flat and fast

My team has a mixture. All AR platform .243,.308,6.5,6.5. All rounds are well suited. I just swapped my 168gr to federal vmax 110. 3300fps but they drop hard after 400

For hogs I’m using POF rogue pistol 12” 308 with can .had been using 9” 300 blackout
