Hey guys, I just did a work up for my rifle and I think I ended up with a pretty good load.

Rifle- Savage 10, .308 with 20" stock barrel, Rifle Basix trigger set at 2lbs, bedded McMillan A3 stock. This was off the bipod, temp at 73 wonderful Glendale, Az degrees with light wind.

Load- 175smk, loaded 2.805, 44.5gr Varget, Winchester LR primers in once fired Hornady brass...this load put together .30 3 shot, .79 5 shot and 1.01 6 shot (I loaded 6 to shoot 2 strings of 3 then toss the flyer) groups.

I do not have access to a chrono- could anyone give me a ballpark guess on the velocity of this load?

Also, I know every barrel will vary, but can anyone give me an average measurement of their stock Savage barrel to the lands?

Thanks,
Jethro

Re: Think I got my load, input please

I shoot a Savage 110FP with a 24" barrel and 1:10 twist. I don't have any MV data using Varget, but I did take 10 separate measurements for the SMK 175 using the Hornady OAL gauge and bullet comparator. OAL distances ranged from 2.290" to 2.295", with a median value of 2.293". These measurements confirmed the preliminary measurements I took using a slotted neck case.
