I've narrowed my selection down to either the GAP-10 or a JP LRP07 I already own one JP rifle and its one heck of a shooter so I'm leaning more that direction. What I like to know from those who own or has owned both which did you prefer the best and which was more accurate. I'm looking for pros and cons of both to be honest.
I'll probably top the rifle with a NF 8-32 and a BORS system from Barrets

Thanks in advance and all comments are welcomed. Again I'm looking for extreme accuracy.

I have owned a GAP10 and now a JP but not in 308. They are both phenomenal rifles. They both shoot extremely well and better than I can shoot. The JP is lighter but I can't say how much because they are configured differently. I prefer the JP because of the side charger (I'm a lefty) and I just like it better. But, with that being said I'd still buy another GAP. You can get a JP in a week as well, they have some sitting on the shelves.

I have a JP LRP-07 and love it, but with that said I have also shot a GAP-10 and it is a great rifle too. The GAP is a little heavier but also is a little cheaper price wise. Either way you're a winner, but I do know that you can get a JP right now, to where a GAP you will have to wait @ least 7-10 months. Both rifles are high quality and very reliable, I think the GAP-10 is about 1lbs to 2lbs heavier, I prefer the side charger on the JP. Again both rifles cream of the crop, it all comes down to preference and what you are going to use the rifle for.

I have both a GAP10 and an LRP07 in 6.5 CM.

You can't go wrong with either. The JP is a little lighter, the side charging handle is really nice, the fit and finish is damn near perfect and the LMOS carrier and JP bolt are works of art. No slouch in the accuracy department either. The GAP10 is a really nice piece too, I wish the JP lower had the ambi bolt release the GAP10 does. The JP has a lighter & softer recoil impulse than the GAP10 but the JP has a slightly larger brake and the low mass operating system compared to the GAP10 with a smaller Titan brake and a full mass carrier. The silent captured spring in the JP is neat, very smooth and no noise coming up from the buffer when cycling.

Based on my two rifles I would give a very slight edge in accuracy to the GAP10 but we're splitting hairs-- both are extremely accurate, I've managed 1/3 MOA 5 shot groups at 300Y and 1/2 MOA 5 shot groups at 550Y with both of them. Both are easily more accurate than I am able to shoot consistently with a large frame gas gun.

Since wait times were mentioned, it took about 8 months to get the GAP10 (ordered mid 2012) and JP delivered the LRP07 in under 8 weeks (ordered May 2013.)

Regarding your optic choice, unless you already have the NF 8-32 & BORS my recommendation would be to skip the BORS and put that money towards a better base optic-- for the price of a NF 8-32 + the BORS that puts you in the range of a Kahles 624i, S&B 5-25, S&B 3-20, Steiner 5-25, NF Beast, etc, all of which will be a better optic than the NF 8-32. Or you could get something in the $1500-2000 range and spend the money saved on ammo or other accessories!

Thanks for the replies. I just need do some more research I suppose. As mentioned I have a JP in a .223 and its one heck of a shooter and the fit is tight.
Reason I am wanting the NF was mainly a higher magnification. I considered a march scope but I keep hearing how dark they get once you crank up the magnification. I need to look thru a few and see if this is true.

Back to rifles hopefully I will run into someone with a gap 10 so I can get a feel of it and see for myself.

Having owned a NF 8-32 it wasn't my favorite scope, it was on a ground squirrel gun for a while. The 8-32 has a somewhat limited elevation adjustment range (65MOA) and the image got a little dark above 24X. The 8X low end was also somewhat limiting for closer targets in regards to both parallax adjustment and FOV. The glass clarity/resolution on my particular 8-32 wasn't all that great either, it was noticeably less clear & sharp than a SWFA 5-20 HD when comparing them both at 20X. The lack of clarity on my particular NF made it hard sometimes to differentiate between a dirt clod or a squirrel poking its head out a burrow at 300-350Y.

I have one Bushnell XRS 4.5-30 at the moment and at 30X it has a better image than my NF 8-32. It also has much more elevation adjustment and the G2DMR reticle is great. The 10 mil locking turrets are nice too. It's not as nice as my S&B 5-25's but it's also only 1/2 the price.

The March scopes are really nice but they do darken up a bit and the eyebox gets a little tigher up near maximum magnification; as long as you have a solid cheekweld it's not a problem. I've spent some time behind a few of them and even with those minor issues they're still really nice scopes, much better than the NF 8-32 IMO.

If you can find someone local that has either a GAP10 or LRP07 it would be a good idea to test drive both of them. Based on my two examples you can't go wrong with either!

I have a Gap-10 in .308 and love it. Shoots nice tiny groups at 100 so far and I haven't shot a .308 gas gun in ten years. I have never shot a JP, I'm sure they are great as well.

I would go with a S&B PM11 5-25 MSR if you can, or another high end optic, but you really don't need any more that 25x up top as it will take you to a 1000 yards well enough. Mirage is a bitch with scopes above 25X, even that's too much sometimes.

I had the same questions about the JP vs. the GAP-10 and ultimately chose the GAP-10 (mine should be here soon). The ONLY reason I went with GAP was due to the 300WSM GAP bolt rifle I own, it just flat out shoots ridiculous groups (but it is a bolt gun). Bottom line is GAP and JP build outstanding rifles and I'm quite certain you can't go wrong with either one.

As far as the glass......I love the NF 5.5x22x50 on my 300wsm much better than the 8x32x56 on my buddies rifle. The glass on the 8x32 is just different and not in a good way IMHO. It reminds me of looking through a fish bowl right around the edges and kind of distorted. I will be mounting the same NF 5.5x22x50 on my GAP-10 with the NPR1 when it arrives.

Tough choice....Good Luck

I was in the same boat as you and I asked around for opinions through the members of this forum. KIBA, was kind enough to share some insight with me since he had both of the rifles and I didn't have access to either. What made my choice easy was my previous experience with my friends CTR-02. That thing is just a work of art and it flat out shoots. I'm not counting GAP out since I know that their bolt rifles are a work of art too but JP has been in the semi rifle game for a while and have stayed on top by making semi autos.

I was leaning towards a GAP due to the price but I found an amazing deal on a LRP-07 that I couldn't pass up. That is what made my decision easier. If I were to buy new, I would get the GAP and save the money glass, ammo, etc but I found a JP for less than a new GAP so that made my choice easy.

I'm sure with whatever platform you go with, you'll be extremely satisfied. Both are going to shoot lights out, it's just up to you to decide if you want a side-charger or non-sidecharger.

Good luck with you decision.

JP now has rifles ready to ship.
JP - Available Firearms and Assemblies

If none of these strike your fancy call and see what LRP packages (not spoken for) they have in the build process.

I have a 22-inch LRP in .308 I'm anxious to shoot. Its very well made and smoother than any semi-auto I've ever worked. The side charging handle is much nicer than the typical AR's. Just need a good day to take the time to properly shoot it in.

Can't go wrong with either. However I recently sold my .308 GAP to fund an LRP. I couldn't be happier. The Accuracy is very comparable but for me the JP handles much better. The gap was a shooter but the weight and size got old. Mine was big, 22" barrel and PRS stock. My JP is an 18".

I would go JP again in a second.
