Well I have been thinking of picking up a few cans lately (last 3 years, haha). I think I have narrowed it down to the following and I just wanted some thoughts on it. I know the osprey is GTG for what I have planed and I believe the Spectre and the 762sd will work good for what I have planed as well.

Heres what I am looking at.

45 Osprey - Will be used on two 1911's and anything down to 9mm that I decide needs to be suppressed. I already have the two 1911s ready to roll.

SWR Spectre - This will be my Rimfire can, I know its a little more spendy then most but I like that I can use my 17hmr's/22mags etc etc.

AAC 762SD - This will be used on a few boltguns in 308/260 and a DPMS 260 that I am building. I am also planing on running this on my AR15s which might include a 243wssm. I plan on useing QD mounts for everything. I might buy two of these since I can use them on almost everything I have.

I think I am good to go with my choices, I wish the 762sd was magnum rated since I have a 300rum but I might use that as a excuse to get a 338 can which will then be a excuse to turn that 300rum into a 338edge. Its funny how all this works.

COME ON TAX RETURNS!!

Re: Thinking of picking up a few Cans...Thoughts?

Those are all good choices given your requirements/what you want to do.

The Spectre is a favorite of mine but is on the heavy side. The new SS 22Sparrow from SilencerCo will also handle the 17HMRs & mags and is a little smaller & lighter than the Spectre. The SilencerCo product also doesn't require tools to take apart or put back together. But I do like the Spectre a lot. It is built like a tank. I've literally driven nails with it.

I love the Osprey. That and the TiRant are hands down the top two .45 choices.

As for the .30 cal product, the new 51-tooth version of the 762-SD is a great choice. It will do everything you are wanting it to do. However, if you are considering getting two .30-cal cans anyway I'd personally rather have a thread-mount for the bolt-action rifles and a fast-attach or something like an Ops Inc 12th for the auto-loaders. The thread-mount is less likely to give you potential accuracy issues (at least in my experience) on the bolt-actions.

But everything you picked is a great choice. If you went with those three I think you'd be very happy. I personally use all those myself.

been hearing about possible gov shutdown, doubt this branch will be affected with all the $200 stamps they collect, but if they are, a lot of people are gonna be pissed!!!

Thanks for the response, I will look into the silencerco sparrow as well. I am sure the guy I am going through here locally should have one.

I have been reading on the thread on suppressors as well for the bolt guns and IF I do get two 30 cal cans I will consider getting one thread and one QD. One of the 308 rifles is actually going to be a APA 308.

I am waiting on a quote from the guy for out the door price on the 3 cans and if its cheap enough I will pick up another 308 can.

With some luck I will get the Trust set up and the cans bought before I leave for work for the summer. Then When I come home just cruise down to the shop and pick them up!

Re: Thinking of picking up a few Cans...Thoughts?

i have an AAC Cyclone and it is a great suppressor and it makes my rig more accurate. THe POI is great though it is about a 4 MOA difference but repeatable.

I also own an M4 2000 suppressor and it is the quietest one i have heard on the range and i have the privilege to hear Gemtechs, Surefires and other AACs. it is a good "bang" for the buck.

I am waiting on a Ti Rant 45 and will do a review once I get it because I have not seen enough user reviews.

Re: Thinking of picking up a few Cans...Thoughts?

Well just as a Update, I ended up deciding on a 762sd 51tooth for my first can. I had a Trust set up and everything is paid for. The Reason I went with the 762sd is that I could use it on almost anything that I had (bolt guns AR15's AR10 etc etc). I do plan on getting a thread on suppressor at a later date when funds are a little more available and it will most likely be the Cyclone.

If you're looking for a magnum rated .30 can that you also consider running on a .243WSSM. The YHM 7.62 Phantom is tough to beat. I already run it on a .243WSSM with astonishing results and will be using it for a 6.5 SAUM.

I'd give that new SS Sparrow serious consideration as well. I've got one on order as well as a 9mm Octane.
