Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

Ok- For a while now, I have been thinking of upgrading my Harris bipod to something more extreme.

Here are the two in the running:

F-Class

Or

Tactial Bipod

The F-class model would be really sweet and I have wanted to try one for a while. But, what do you think about taking the F-Class to a tactical match? Would it be looked down upon?? Mobility isn't really an issue with the matches around here.

I just noticed that Sinclair came out with the Tactical version, which looks awesome as well, but not a lot of information within the SH group.

They are pricey, but again what piece of equipment isn't in this game?

Atlas Bipod 10.6 oz.
Sinclair Tactical Bipod 28 oz.

Unless there is something that the Sinclair can do that the Atlas will not, why haul an extree 17 oz around with you???

Exactly. The Sinclair F-class won't suit tactical matches to well with the lack of mobility. But Great for F-class nonetheless.

I say get the f-class and use the harris in tact. comps

Just always looking for something better.....In this case stability and quick adjustments. Not that Harris is bad, I just know there are better options.

Good point.....I overlooked the Atlas. It is definitely in the running.

No....wait....doesn't Atlas require a rail or is there a sling stud mount model?

Remember.....Mobility is NOT an issue at our local comps....

Yes, it requires a rail. But putting one on is rather simple. Seekins Precision makes a Sling Rail System (SRS) that includes a sling point, so you don't lose the ability to use your sling.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

for the money that you are looking at spending, get a Atlas. Since I found this site, I wondered for a while what all the hype was over the Atlas. Then I found one at a gunshow for sale (I know, wonder of wonders) and got to actually look at one and play with it before spending the coin on it. Needless to say I walked out the door of the show with it and have never once regretted the cost of it. After having used it now for a while, I have to say that it is the best bipod you can buy. I have used Harris bipods and GG&G bipods but have to say that if anything is perfection of design, then it is the Atlas. I honestly cannot think of anything that they could do to make it better. I know that I am reletivley new here and do not have a lot of posts, but this is just my opinion.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

I use the Harris for F-class, but I have tried the f-class bipod and that is as good as it can possible get before going to a bench rest. However I don't use anything on my rifles that I wouldn't use in war and that fancy sinclair f-class bipod would be definitely ditched so I stick with the Harris. I have heard good things about the sinclair tactical but I have not seen it in person but everything sinlcair puts out is usually top notch. If you want a bipod not to many have or seen the Roedale would be my choice.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

Well - now after doing the research, the new leader is Atlas for sure....I was thinking the rail was the deal breaker, but there are some really good simple solutions to that problem.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

I vote Atlas, my friend has one (with the new upgrades) and IMHO, it is better than my Harris in many ways. Definitely on my ever growing list of stuff I need...

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

I got the Sinclair tactical for my 338 lm and liked it so much I got another one for my crusader. I like the way the legs cant out,it allows you to be able to get very low to the ground. Atlas make a great product also, you will get a quality piece of equipment either way.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

I have a Sinclair F-class, an Atlas V8, and a Harris Bi-pod. The F-Class is the most stable of the three but is bulky to transport. Great for the slow long range game but not for the run and gun stuff. I would recommend a F-Class rest if the mobility is not a concern. Money well spent!

PS- Love the Atlas too!

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

Thanks guys.....I ordered an Atlas and it should be to my house by Tuesday. I still would really like to try one of those F-class bipods.

I also purchased the Seekins SRS for mounting the Atlas on my McMillan. Does anyone have any input on whether or not I should use protective padded tape on the bottom of the rail just to protect the stock a little. Just been thinking about that a little.

Please list the 'many ways' it is better than the Harris. I'm currently testing one so mabe I'll come up with them myself, but sp far Ive only found a couple.

Really? It sounds like you may be saying that it's your opinion that the Atlas is NOT worth the difference in cost...??

Just asking cuz mine is on it's way to me.

I did a how to install a BT17 rail on a McM A5, that thread is in the gunsmithing section, IMHO no padding is needed to protect the stock, the rail needs to be hard mounted to the stock.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

I've run them all. The Sinclair F-class bipod is great for load testing, shooting small groups and precision shooting. This is why I bought it. It is much more stable than a Harris/Atlas tactical bipod. This bipod is huge and heavy, and would be good for going from the vehicle to the shooting line and back, which is what I use it for.

But, a normal Harris/Atlas is more versitle and light weight for across the board shooting. I run a Harris on all my rifles.

To me they both have their merits. (Atlas and Harris)

The Harris shines in its sheer simplicity. Easy to use - no brains required. Quick deployment

The Atlas shines in versatility. It also loads up better on concrete. The pan is pretty sweet too. Not so quick deployment tho.

For me, as far as a comp bipod, I think the Atlas takes the cake. Still keeping my good ole Harris tho.

Dunno. Ive handled one and like the way it is constructed, like that its marginally smaller than the Harris, and like the versatility. Chiller sent me his to play with for a while so I have it mounted on my rifle and hope to toss it around some. If I had to take a snap-shot, I'd keep my Harris and save a lot of money. Time will tell.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

Well, my Atlas arrived today. Sweet bipod for sure! Don't know if it will help my shooting, but its nice...

I went with a Seekins SRS, and it seems pretty awesome!!

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

I like the harris good enough. As long as it holds up your rifle, I don't see a big difference other than price. If it ain't broke. ..don't fix it. There are always folks who just like to spend money for the sake of spending money though and those who always just need a new toy. I just wish there is more options for feet on the harris.

Re: Thinking of Upgrading My Bipod - Sinclair??

Yep....I had found your review before I purchased. The Sinclair tactical bipod was number 1 on my list, until I found an overwhelming number of positive posts for the Atlas.

So the Atlas it is...I mounted it last night and so far, I am not dissapointed at all. Love the looks and feel. I hope to shoot with it this weekend and I will post what I find.
