I posted on another thread earlier and it made me remember this happening.
20 years ago another guy and I were working at NAS Fallon putting Iron in a footing. Sirens had been running all around the base all morning. We needed some more Rebar so I went to grab 3 30' pieces and as I get to the Iron pile some cop cars with their lights on pull up across the street from where we are working. I grab the Iron and I am dragging it across a 2x12 plank over a ditch and about this time I catch some movement out of the side of my eye. This guy pops out the second floor door of this barricks building and starts shooting. I'm standing on this plank about half way across this ditch thing WTF when I see this guy pop out again and shoots three more times and goes back inside. I look over at my partner and I see him hiding behind the company truck and he looks at me and waves me over there and like a dumbass instead of giving him the number one sign and jumping down in the ditch I take off running over to where he was at. He tells me I think it's a good time to take a break so we sit down behind the wheels of the truck. We see guys with Sniper rifles moving around and some others moving on this building. We sit there for about two hr's occasionally hearing a couple of shots. After hiding for two hr's the cop cars pack up and leave so we go back to work. The contractor shows up later in the day and we were asking wtf was going on and he starts laughing and tells us it was a training day.
