I scuba dive and am a member of a diving forum, so this video of course has been covered in detail.
Apparently it was more of an art project that the guy was doing than anything else. It was done in several takes, not all at once like the video portrays. The guy never meant for it to seem that way either, it was just an art project.
However, freedivers like him are amazing. The depths they get to and the time they hold their breath is incredible. I would love to do it but I can't hold my breath worth a damn. Which is why I strap a large tank of air to my back before I jump in.

Even if it took 100 takes, that's damned amazing and I'd love to be able to do that. I wouldn't mind scuba diving at some point - I've always wanted to, never taken the opportunity to do it. Fantastic video!

I remember watching that movie. I also have a friend that does the big blue freedives. Nowhere near the records but deeper that I ever want to go.
