Re: this

i guess it depends on how you measure group size, if that's what is being asked.

some (such as myself) go with the outside edge of the holes to measure, some go with a center of the hole to center of the hole measurement.

either way it is a good group, especially with the "plane jane" rifle and ammo used.

i think you can brag a bit.

Re: this

thanks fellas - yeah - its a completely stock marlin 7000 (not the 7000T that has the fancy stock on it). Shot from a front bag on top of a yamaha rhino while sitting on the bed of a truck...lol

just for reference sake what kind of CTC groups are shot in competitions at 50yds?

Re: this

depends on what competition your talking about. if it's rf benchrest, about a "C" hair

IMO after seeing your group, either the marlin 7000 is a sleeper rifle not many own or care to talk about, or you are a really good shooter, or both as that group mimicks many tricked out high dollared 10/22's.

i'd think it'd be safe to say that you shouldn't worry about it as your example shows that you can "run" with them.

although obviously not needed, i'd try a box of wolf or similiar match grade ammo out of that thing just to see if it'll tighten up more.

marlin 7000, hmmm.....

appears the 7000 is a heavy short barreled version of the 795, which is the magazine fed version of the one of the rimfire icons, the model 60.

i had one of those, and with about a trillion shots through it, was still quite a shooter.

looking at marlin's website, it appears the 7000 is discontinued, http://www.marlinfirearms.com/firearms/selfloading/60.asp but that Model 70PSS looks "interesting" to say the least.

keep us posted on the progress your having with your 7000, looks like yet another rifle to consider for the future.

although i don't like referncing other forums, i thought this would add value: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/marlin/82869-marlin-60-795-accessories.html

Re: this

hey thanks for the info! - yeah I always thought the rifle was accurate until I tried those Minimags. I did not think it would shoot as well as it does. In one of the links you posted the author suggested that the microgroove barrel doesnt seem to like the plain lead ammo - this would be my experience exactly....I have some Lapua match ammo I will try - we'll see what happens....I am finishing putting a Boyds thumbhole stock on it - I hope I am not messing too much with a good thing...

I have always loved this gun and as soon as it came out I had to have it - bought it 10 years ago and its the best $170 I have ever spent on a gun....dont hesitate to get one if you come accross one.
