Gunsmithing thompson center bedding

Re: thompson center bedding

Advice- return the Venture and spend $200 more on an Icon. Problem solved. The Icon has an aluminum bedding block and I haven't seen one shoot more than 3/4 moa. One in the family regularly shoots less than 1/2 moa.

Re: thompson center bedding

Thanks but I am currently unemployed so money is tight. I was hoping a few bucks on a bedding kit might help. It's been a long time since I did anything like this and was just wondering if anyone had some advice.

Shortdraw, no offense meant. It's just that I only had about $700 for a rifle and scope set up after selling off a couple MilSurp rifles that I didn't shoot much. As I said, money's tight and I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on whether it would improve the rifle's accuracy by additional bedding. The shooter is pillar bedded and shoots pretty much as advertised by T/C. MOA. I just need to put some meat in the freezer and sometimes have to take some pretty long shots (300 yards+)

If it shoots 1moa, that's all you need to put meat in the freezer past 300yds.

What kind of stock is on it?

Re: thompson center bedding

No sweat buddy. The Venture is a damn good shooter for the money. I tried one the other day and moa is what it shot with Federal blue box cheap ammo. If you don't mind woodwork, get a Richards laminate stock for the T/C. It will require a ton of sanding and inletting but will take a bedding job way better than the plastic stock. Otherwise, shoot away and realize you'll be ahead of a lot of other hunters. Not many package rifles shoot moa.
