For those of you that have a Stillers action in a AICS chassis, did you have to make any modifications in order to install it? ..... or did it drop right in?

I have a stiller action and an AICS 2.0. Neither are yet mated. However, I know they are supposed to fit well (My Stiller is a Tac 338). My gunsmith, however plans to hog out some of the inside of the AICS if the fit is not as close a a bedded fit. He firmly believes for long range accuracy in bedding the action to the stock, even in a drop in. Since he has been doing this for a long long time, I am going to take his advice, and see how it shoots.

The AICS chassis often need a little milling to fit correctly. I'm not that familiar with the the Stiller action but I can tell you the two area that always need modification are in the trigger well if you are running an Jewell or Timny trigger. And in the recoil lug area if you have an oversized recoil lug.
The stock Remmy 700 actions with the stock trigger/recoil lugs will drop right in without modding.

I have 2 stillers(tac 30) in aics. The only machine work they required was a small relief in the bolt handle slot. That may just be with the tac 30.

The only things I have had to do had nothing to do with the action it self. The space for the recoil lug is .255, so if you have a .300 recoil lug, then you need to mill the slot for it to fit. If you use the Timney triggers as I do, then you will also need to mill a relief for the safety pin that sticks out of the side of the trigger as the safety is engaged. The Jewell trigger may need some extra room also.

cough. cough. file the safety pin on the $150 timney instead of milling/removing the anodizing on a $1k+ chassis
the action itself should drop in without issues. like mentioned, things such as .250" or thicker lugs will require modification to the lug recess and possibly the lug. triggers other than oem remintons may require modifications to the chassis as well.

Yep, got a TAC300 in an AICS. Had to mill out the recoil lug recess for the oversize lug, and the right side of the inside of the chassis to clear the Jewell trigger. It would allow the trigger to fit, but it was in a bind, not good for the trigger or accuracy. Safety did not move either as I recall.

I should be receiving a new AICS today, I believe the newer AICS no longer requires any modification? I'm just going off of the item description from eurooptic's site.
