What does the Hide think of this rifle? I am looking for a modern bolt action that could serve for both hunting and some match/precision work and it seems to me to offer all I would want. I realize that it's really just a M700 with a better barrel but I really like the stock it comes with. For the price it sure does look like a good deal. I'm looking at the 6.5 Creed specifically. Any opinions welcome. Even recommendations for something else that I should also be considering.

I spotted for a guy using one chambered in .308. He was hitting the 1224 yard target easily with it. The action looked smooth. Btw he was using 168 grain bullets. He said that’s the farthest he’s ever shot a .308.

I just bought the HMR 6.5 Bergara, and I'm searching for optics. Stay calm.

I been out for a while, I picked one up in 6.5 creedmore, so far I'm very impressed. It shot just under and inch with cheap Federal hunting ammo and Hornady black box. I will start working up loads for it soon. I did throw together some reloads using both H and imr 4350.

No issues, smooth action, very accurate out of the box, great customer service, Bergara rebarrels for around $500 including new cerakoted barrel, labor, shipping and handling and test target provided. Stock is adjustable for length of pull via spacers, and comb height via cheekriser which locks pefectly with just hand tightening the adjustment knob. The trigger is decent, although I replaced mine with a TriggerTech Rem 700 Special.

I have an HMR in 308. It has a really smooth bolt, well built, is on a rem700 footprint upgrading parts if wanted is awesome. I get .37 moa with mine. I’ve had/have tikkas, savages, and rem 700s and believe the bergara is a best production rifle that I have shot. I’ve never had to use their customer service or warranty, but hear it is great.

It doesn't just have a better barrel than the 700, the action is smoother and it has the side mounted bolt release for ease of cleaning, which also means you won't need a trigger with bolt release if you should decide to upgrade to a frictionless TriggerTech trigger. The muzzle is threaded in 5/8-24" and comes with a thread protector, so no extra expenditure on threading if you end up wanting to put a muzzle brake, or a can on it. The AICS mags work great and don't break the bank, and the Magpul 5 rounders and 10 rounders are a great addition, or replacement because from what I've been told Magpul produces the mags for Bergara with their logo on them. This rifle has been as close to a custom rifle for me without actually having to actually shell out custom rifle money for me as it gets. It's a keeper; and by the way mine is a 6.5 Creedmoor.

They're shooters for sure. Got 2100 good rounds from my 6.5 HMR, with H4350 handloads. 2/3 MOA all day. It loved Hornady American Gunner ammo too.

Firing pin hole size is an issue. CCI 200 or BR-2 are the only primers that I'm comfortable running. Federal primers start popping within 1.0gr of book max load. Could always have Greg Tanel bush it.

When I had it rebarreled, gunsmith said it was the crookedest action he'd ever worked on. Said he hand torqued the new barrel on and could see a gap on one side of the tennon from across the room! Hasn't affected accuracy though, 26" Mullerworks 1/8T shoots better than I do.

BTW, I contacted Bergara about a rebarrel last year. Got a reply from Mr. Young in customer service that the custom shop was closed.

HMR stock looks like an A5 but has significantly more drop/ top of butt pad is lower relative to bore centerline. Upgrading the factory stock was a revelation for me.

Good Luck.

Don't know what was the matter with your action, or gunsmith but the custom shop re-opened this year, also did you want some kind of custom rebarrel because several members on this forum according to their posts were quoted the $500 for a rebarrel by BergaraUSA last year.
