thread adapter for 300 win mag suppressed? 1/2-32 to 5/8-24

New to the suppressor world trying to get my 300 win mag going. Found out my threads are 1/2-32. My question is: is it safe/okay to use an adapter in this situation? I know my other option is chop the current threads and re-thread it but I am trying to avoid that. Any help would be appreciated.

0.5" threads on a 0.308" bore isn't a great idea. Cut and rethread to 5/8x24. Shouldn't cost more than $100 to do.

yeah, they took off a lot of meat to go 1/2" on that, 5/8-24 most common.

The gun was threaded for a muzzle brake before I even bought it 15 years ago. Was just wondering if it was safe to adapt. If I re-thread my smith said 9/16 would the the most I could go with unless I chopped a couple inches or more off
