Have a savage heavy barrel that isn't threaded, currently have about 300 rounds through it. Should I thread it or just run it as is for a while and then replace it with a new barrel? There aren't any gunsmiths in my area that do threads...

With a switch barrel setup like Savage, threading isnt that difficult. Ship it to someone for threading if you plan to suppress it.

The cheapest time for labor costs is usually right now.

Inflation, historically, has rarely ever been a negative number.

Where are you? If you happen to be in northwest WA state, i can do it and let you watch the process.

If not, id recommend you find a smith nearby to save on shipping costs by dropping it off in person, since its such an easy job. Let us know where you are, theres a good chance someone here will know of a smith in your area. Lots of guys dont advertise or even know what the internet is. Someone here will likely know someone.

No reason to pay 50$ shipping for a 50$ job.
