Suppressors Thread on can coming loose...

So how put should a thread on can stay while shooting? I have a thread on can that I use on my dpms sass 308 and as I shoot it works itself loose. This is a can that threads onto a muzzle break.

If I use teflon tape it works much better but still starts to come loose. I do not think I can get 10 rds out without POI changing because the can is coming loose.

I also use this can on a 300 AAC Blackout upper and it seems to stay put on that upper. Granted I am only shooting subs on that.

Any pointers?

Re: Thread on can coming loose...

Another thread on here today addressed that issue. I believe it was on a DPMS 308. Might search the threads that have been posted to today for another. "My can comes loose thread"
I am looking to see if I can find it for you as I didn't pay much attention to it.

Re: Thread on can coming loose...

The suppressor should stay firmly attached the suppressor.

A lot of products I've seen however, appear to be poorly designed.

One can I looked at had a large diameter thread, and no other surface- so it's just a muzzle thread on can, with the muzzle thread moved to the muzzle brake.

Some of the designs use a tapered surface that does not appear to have anywhere near the taper required to firmly resist vibration and provide locking force.

Blue loctite and ensure that the can is firmly butted up against the shoulder. Unless you plan on taking it on and off alot. The only time I remove mine is for thorough cleanings.I have not had either of 2 threaded cans come loose through 1500ish rounds using this method.

Quite often larger manufactures will cut their threads "looser" in order to minimize compatibility issues.
Thread on suppressors work best with precision cut threads & shoulder.

One option that I have heard good results about is using a high end Nord-Lock washer.

Some say that the tolerances of a washer are not suficient enought for use behind a suppressor, but genuine nord-lock parts are of alot higher quality than a generic "Wedge Lock Washer" product.

Here are some more threads that discuss your issue:
