Threading stock 700 barrel

I have a stock rem 700 .308 pss would it be ok to thread the barrel or should I buy new?

Threading the barrel 5\8x24 won’t hurt anything. The cost to have it done properly in a lathe will be between $100 and $150. A new barrel that’s already threaded will be 4x that amount or more. So I would say as long as it shoots good thread away.

4 to 600 I'm just wondering if I should do a new build and abandon this 700. I'm a ffl/sot. So I can get some parts @ wholesale.

I would probably do a new build if you are questioning it at all. A Bighorn Origin will take savage prefit barrels and is my favorite action to build off of.

A Defiance would be okay. Lots of options out there I just feel for the money spent the Origin is a super value.
