Hey im fixing to send my BA for a cut and thread soon but im not sure which threads to go with. Barrel is a 26" Heavy Varmint and i wanna cut it down to 20''.

Should i go with a 1/2 x 28 or a 5/8 x 24. Ill be running a 419 self timing hellfire on it when i get it back, i havent bought it so is there an advantage or going onw war or the other?

Thanks.

I know the article specifically references 30 cal barrels but would carry the line of thinking over to .224 cal as well. Why have a heavy profile and then machine it down to the thread pitch and diameter used on a pencil or light weight barrel seems kind of counter productive to me. If the brake you want to is is offered in a larger thread pitch and diameter that would be my choice, but to each his own.

No, i get it. And i rather get the 5/8 x 24 so i can have comonality between the larger cals and the .223 since ill be using a 419 break.

I just never gone with a .223 with threads larger than 1/2 x 28.
